Biography

Richard devotes a significant portion of his practice to helping clients navigate the complicated areas of family law. Divorce, child custody and other family law issues can be some of the most difficult matters in law, emotionally speaking. Richard works diligently to thoroughly explain your legal options when you are going through a family law dispute, and forcefully argue your case. Richard’s goal in any family law case is to help you get to the best position from which to begin the next phase of your life.

When he’s not litigating family law matters, Richard counsels clients on legal matters such as contracts, estate planning, probate, and government relations.

Before moving to Wichita, Richard was a member of a law firm in Topeka, Kansas where he represented business and association clients before the Kansas legislature and administrative agencies.  Richard has been actively involved with government affairs having worked three legislative sessions as a staffer for the Texas House of Representatives and six legislative sessions as a lobbyist before the Kansas Legislature.

Richard graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Government and is certified by the McCombs School of Business for having completed a curriculum with an emphasis in Business. Richard received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas. Richard was admitted to the Texas bar in 2006 and to the Kansas bar in 2007.

Richard currently serves as Chair of the WBA Legislative Committee and is a member of the Family Law and Probate Committees.  Richard is a past board member of the WBA Young Lawyers Division and a member of the American Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, East Wichita Rotary, and Wichita Crime Commission.
